Truck Inventory Audit Checklist for Service Fleets

Pick a van, pick a timer

Forty minutes. Fast movers first. Tools second. Cores third. You are not counting every screw. You are proving the system still maps to the shelves.

If 40 minutes cannot cover the daily layer, the van is overstocked or unlabeled. That finding is the audit working.

Count against the phone, not a printout from last week

Open the live truck in the app. Count the bin. Fix the qty with an adjust and a reason if you must. A paper list that was printed Monday is a historical novel by Thursday.

Photo a messy bin. The photo is for next month’s “did we fix this” slide. Shame is optional. Evidence is not.

Sample the invoices

Five recent jobs from this van. Did the scans match the invoice? Two misses is coaching. Five misses is a process hole. Zero misses means you can shorten next month’s audit.

This is the money part of the checklist. Counting bins without looking at invoices is gym cardio with no weight.

Tools and assets get names

Meter, recovery machine, locator, press tool. Present or not. If missing, the asset history should say who had it. If the history is empty, the checkout process is decoration.

Write three actions, then leave

An audit without three written actions is a vibe. Fix one label, one min, one habit. Put the owner’s initials on each. Close them before the next audit.
