ServiceTitan Inventory vs Dedicated Parts Software
A full field-service suite can track parts. That does not mean it is the best place to run a van catalog, a scanner, and a nightly restock.

FSM inventory is a module, not a religion
ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Jobber all have inventory ideas. Some shops run them well. Many shops turn them on, get confused, and go back to a spreadsheet because the module was built to support invoices, not to run a fleet warehouse.
If your techs already live in that app all day, try the module honestly for 30 days. If scans are not happening, you do not have an FSM problem. You have a van-tool problem.
What dedicated parts software is for
Photo catalog. Per-truck qty. Offline scan. Transfers. Min stock. Reorders. A technician UI that is not a tiny version of dispatch. That is a parts product. It should export job usage into the FSM, not replace the FSM.
FleetStock is that layer. It does not want your bookkeeping or your routing. It wants the capacitor on Truck 101 to be a number you can trust.
Double entry is the fear; bad data is the cost
Owners fear typing twice. They should fear a van count that is wrong. A nightly CSV or a webhook of job parts is cheaper than a year of supply-house runs. Perfect real-time sync is a sales demo. A reliable export is a business.
Start with export. Automate later. Do not wait for a unicorn integration to start scanning.
Price and attention
FSM seats are expensive. Using them as your only inventory UI means you pay FSM prices to restock a van. A $249 yearly parts tool next to an FSM is not waste. It is focus.
Attention matters more than APIs. A parts-first screen gets parts-first habits. A dispatch-first screen gets dispatch-first habits. Guess which one updates min stock.
A clean split of jobs
FSM: customers, schedule, invoices, reviews. FleetStock: vans, catalog, scans, transfers, reorders. Meet on the job number. That split is how mixed HVAC/appliance/plumbing shops stay sane.
If a vendor tells you that split is impossible, they want the whole wallet. It is possible. Shops do it every week.
FAQ
Does FleetStock replace ServiceTitan?
No. It sits beside it for truck parts.
What if we have no FSM yet?
You can still run FleetStock. Invoice in whatever you use today. Add an FSM later without throwing away van history.
Housecall or Jobber instead of Titan?
Same split. Keep their dispatch. Export parts. Do not force a van WMS out of a scheduling app.
